In this video, we take a look at Top 10 incredible Animal Heroes Feeding Other Animals.

Animal heroes? Strange as it may seem, they are all around us.

Think about your favorite animal. Is it an animal you admire for itself?

Does its behavior remind you of anything?

Has it achieved something, or shown some courage?

Animals are altruistic.

They help each other. In the animal kingdom, altruism is probably more common than selfishness.

Think about it: how does an animal survive?

It needs food, water, shelter. It needs a safe place to raise its young.

It needs to defend itself against predators. And it needs to reproduce.

Those are all selfish needs. But animals also help each other. They cooperate.

They hunt together. They watch each other's backs. They share food.

Animal altruism is complex. Animals have to recognize each other.

They have to know each other's language.

They have to depend on each other.

And what they share is often material: food, water, shelter.

But it's more than that.

Animals help each other with intangible things as well.

They help each other defend themselves against predators.

They help each other find mates. They help each other raise children.

That last one is no accident.

Animals are altruistic because they belong to groups.

In groups, the individual good of the group is greater than the individual good of any of its members.

When every animal in a group does what's best for the group, the group as a whole benefits.

Think of the wolves that guard a pack; they survive only as a group.

Groups are important to biology.

Biology is essentially the study of groups.

(Even evolution, which is the study of how individual DNA changes, is basically the study of how individual DNA changes within a group.)

Groups are important to human society. It's no coincidence that the oldest societies.

Animals are important to us. We love them.

We watch them. We take care of them.

They care for us. We care about them not just because they're interesting,

but also because they matter.

Animals are heroes because they love, care, protect each other.
