The choice between a cheetah and an ostrich as a means of transportation, is not as straightforward as it might at first sight appear. There are many factors involved, not all of which have been taken into consideration by those, who have so glibly supported the claims of one or other of these ground rivals.
Ostrich and Cheetah are animals who have an advantage to make a living. They have adapted their bodies to the environment in which they live. The big question is: Is it better to be an Ostrich or a Cheetah? I would argue that it is better to be a Cheetah.
We recently went on a safari holiday to Botswana. Looking at all the wildlife there, we were reminded of a fable from our school days. The fable goes, "A cheetah trying to hunt an ostrich will end up running itself to death without ever catching up with the Ostrich". On hearing this, our 8 year old son enquired what a cheetah is and why would a cheetah want to catch an ostrich?
